Lump-sum benefits – Capitalised payment

This page provides information on the payment of capitalised OASI/DI pensions. Such pensions are authorised only for the citizens of countries that have an agreement on this type of benefit.

Only the agreements signed between Switzerland and the following countries provide for a capitalised pension (lump-sum benefit):

Albania, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Israel, Japan, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Philippines, San Marino, Serbia, Tunisia, Türkiye, Uruguay, USA, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo.

  • You will receive a capitalised payment if your accrued pension is less than 10% of the full pension.

  • You may choose between a pension and a lump-sum benefit if your accrued pension is between 10% and 20% of the full pension.

  • You cannot opt for the lump-sum benefit if your accrued pension is more than 20% of the full pension.

Exception:

Citizens of the Philippines may choose between a pension and a lump-sum benefit if their accrued pension is at least 20% but less than 30% of the full pension.

Citizens of San Marino may choose between a pension and a lump-sum benefit if their old-age pension is at least 15% but less than 20% of the full pension or if their survivor’s pension is at least 10% but less than 20% of the full pension. Lump-sum benefits are not paid for disability pensions.
