Students

Non-gainfully employed students who leave Switzerland to complete their studies abroad, may remain insured under the compulsory OASI/DI/EO scheme, until 31st December of the year during which they turn 30 years of age.

Conditions for the continuation of the compulsory OASI/DI/EO insurance scheme:

  • to be domiciled abroad;

  • to be younger than 30 years of age;

  • not to be in active employment;

  • to have been insured under the OASI/DI scheme for at least five consecutive years immediately before the start of your studies abroad;

  • to inform our office, within 6 months following the start of your studies abroad.

After the six month delay following the start of your studies abroad, it is no longer possible to continue being insured under the compulsory OASI/DI/EO insurance scheme.

However, under certain conditions, you may join the voluntary OASI/DI scheme.

If you move abroad for a short period of time, with no intention of staying there permanently, make yourself known to your compensation office.
