Students who take up residence abroad to study may, under certain conditions, continue to pay compulsory or voluntary OASI/DI contributions.
What are the conditions for affiliation?
- being aged between 18 and 30 years old
- being a Swiss, EU or EFTA national
- having resided in Switzerland or been insured with the OASI/DI scheme for at least 5 consecutive and uninterrupted years immediately prior to the start of the training abroad
The conditions and contribution rates vary depending on the country in which you are studying:

Students who reside abroad and keep their domicile in Switzerland remain insured with the cantonal compensation office
How do I join?
- Notify your departure at the commune of your place of residence in Switzerland in order to obtain a certificate of departure
- Register with the Swiss consular representation in your country of residence via the: Online counter for Swiss nationals residing abroad
- Send us the membership application form by e-mail or by post with a copy of the certificate of departure
How do I give power of attorney to a third party?
You can give power of attorney to a third party to act on your behalf with our office by returning the power of attorney form to us by e-mail or by post.
