Students

Students who take up residence abroad to study may, under certain conditions, continue to pay compulsory or voluntary OASI/DI contributions.

What are the conditions for affiliation?

  • being aged between 18 and 30 years old

  • being a Swiss, EU or EFTA national

  • having resided in Switzerland or been insured with the OASI/DI scheme for at least 5 consecutive and uninterrupted years immediately prior to the start of the training abroad

The conditions and contribution rates vary depending on the country in which you are studying:

Compulsory OASI/DI/EO rate

CHF 556.50 / year

Voluntary OASI/DI/EO rate

CHF 1060.50 / year

Domicile in or outside the EU/EFTA

Domicile outside the EU/EFTA

Professional activity authorised

Submission of application:

no later than 6 months after the start of the course abroad

Professional activity authorised

Submission of application:

no later than 12 months after having left Switzerland


How do I join?

  1. Notify your departure at the commune of your place of residence in Switzerland in order to obtain a certificate of departure

  2. Register with the Swiss consular representation in your country of residence via the: Online counter for Swiss nationals residing abroad

  3. Send us the membership application form by e-mail or by post with a copy of the certificate of departure

How do I give power of attorney to a third party?

You can give power of attorney to a third party to act on your behalf with our office by returning the power of attorney form to us by e-mail or by post.
