Joining the voluntary OASI/DI

Swiss, EU and EFTA nationals who transfer their domicile outside the EU or EFTA may, under certain conditions, join the voluntary OASI/DI scheme.

What are the conditions for affiliation?

  • Being a Swiss, EU or EFTA national

  • Residing outside the EU or EFTA

  • Having been insured with the OASI/DI scheme for at least 5 consecutive and uninterrupted years at the time of leaving the compulsory OASI/DI scheme

  • Applying for membership no later than 12 months after leaving the compulsory OASI/DI scheme

Particularities:

Years of residence in Switzerland count as years of insurance for persons exempt from compulsory OASI/DI contributions and for minors.

To enable children to pay contributions when they reach the age of majority, they should join the voluntary AVS/AI scheme when they leave Switzerland.

How do I join?

Application for membership is individual. Each family member must submit an application.

  • Notify the commune of your place of residence that you are leaving in order to obtain a certificate of departure.

  • Register with the Swiss consular representation in your country of residence via the: Online desk for Swiss nationals residing abroad

  • Send us the membership application form by e-mail or by post with a copy of your certificate of departure
