Disability insurance aims to compensate for the drop in or loss of earnings suffered by insured persons as a result of damage to physical, mental or psychological health.

The OAIE is responsible for all insured persons resident abroad, including both Swiss citizens and foreign nationals. Its tasks include:

  • processing applications to determine the entitlement to benefits and to establish the level of invalidity

  • calculating the amount, processing payment and managing the benefits of insured persons abroad

  • implementing international social security agreements.
